MENOPAUSE
INFORMATION

I just started menopause a few years ago and am now in full flight. I often laugh at the cartoons on the newsletter as sometimes I could swear they were talking about me. Anyway just to say you are appreciated that you make this part of life humorous and fun." Ester Surija
For those of you that were concerned about your memory!
Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was? Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses. Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale. It's not aging, it's the damn doors! Thank goodness for studies like this! What is menopause?
Menopause is sometimes called, "the change of life." In the years leading up to menopause, a woman’s ovaries slowly make less and less of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. You might not be aware of the changes happening in your body. Or, you might have symptoms as you near menopause. Many women wonder if these symptoms are normal, and many are confused about how to treat their symptoms. You will feel better by learning all you
can about menopause and talking with your doctor about your health and
your symptoms. If your symptoms are causing you discomfort or concern,
your doctor can teach you about treatment
options and help you to make wise choices.
What are the symptoms
of menopause?
•Change
in pattern of periods (They can be shorter or longer, lighter or heavier,
or there may be more or less time between periods.)
