I don't have any trouble getting to sleep (usually) it's the staying asleep, but that 5 1/2 hours swould have been heaven for me!! I usually (when I'm suffering) get anywhere from 1/2 hr to 3 hrs of sleep, my record was a month or more of this!!!! I get monkey-mind where things just don't shut down, alot of this had to do with my working conditions and lately I've been sleeping pretty well (only one night in the past couple of weeks!!! yeah!!). My Dr. gave me scripts for Ambien CR which I promptly tossed when a patient came in and told us about neing caught driving a few times while on it (asleep!!) by her policeman neighbor! and then hearing the stuff in the news, no thanks I'd rather be awake (well ok mostly), she also gave me a small dose of Lexapro (antdepressant) of course I was depressed I WASN'T SLEEPING!!!! and I took them when necessary but haven't for awhile. I've been sleeping pretty well lately, we even wnet and got new sheets (yummy!!! soooffft ones) and they make a difference in the quality of sleep. (I'll take it!!) I'd say talk with your doc, but peri is a time for sleep stuff to come up. I've found it's better to not stay in bed not only does that irritate my DH but I still don't sleep sooo get up and do something!
Hugs Pam
